Larry Carter, the new Rappahannock High assistant principal and athletic director, was already on the job Monday morning.
“I’m looking forward to my year here, but there are a lot of new things to get used to,” he said.
Mr. Carter has taught physical education and coached various sports at Madison High for the past several years. This past year he was the chairman of the physical education department, assistant football coach and soccer coach.
He has both bachelor’s and master’s degrees from East Carolina University. He is now taking courses at the University of Virginia to be endorsed in administration. By the end of the summer he expects to have four of the seven required courses finished and to complete the process during the next school year.
He will be taking two courses during the month of July, driving from his home in Madison to Charlottesville for one course in the morning, coming to Rappahannock High in the afternoon and returning to Charlottesville for an evening class.
