The next and most important step — the commission’s acceptance of the application — takes place in July.
“Don Price and Bill Anderson, our two staff people, and the group from Morven Park will have a sort of continuing relationship over the next couple of months during which time such things as security concerns and the like will be ironed out,” said Shenefield.
“I would expect the commission to be in a position to vote on the application at its next meeting July 24.”
The Westmoreland Memorial Foundation is privately operated and incorporated under Virginia law, and the one-day race meet it sponsors is predominantly a volunteer effort.
