Two full months after Democrat Jerry Wood announced his bid for the 31st District seat in Virginia’s House of Delegates, Republicans are still looking for a candidate to face him.
On Tuesday, Richard McNear, Fauquier County’s deputy administrator for planning and a Rappahannock resident, confirmed he has been approached about running for the seat. “I’ve had some requests,” Mr. McNear said. “I’m in the process of mulling it over.”
If Mr. McNear decides to run and wins the seat, “I’d retire a little early” from the county planning job, he said. “There’s not enough time to fill this position and do a good job in Richmond.”
