The board, commission and applicant complimented each other on the unusual speed of the special exception process and zoning ordinance change which were completed from start to successful finish in just over three weeks.
James Green, the supervisors’ chairman, said that he had heard “some criticizm about the speed,” but that the joint public hearing and approval of a special exception and zoning text amendement were not without precedent. ) Mr. Molloy complimented Wakefield School and said that the fast track approval should be “a new standard” for future items.
Glen Sedam, attorney for Wakefield School, cheered the board and commission, saying “they didn’t give us any slack . . . they didn’t give us any easy outs. We’ve seen good government at its best.”
The only hint of discord in the meeting came when supervisor Wilbur Burton, D-Cedar Run, asked how many pupils at the school, which charges an average of $4,500 a year for tuition, were part of “gifted and talented” programs.
