With nominating conventions last week and this week the election picture for this fall is becoming fully developed, at least for seats in the General Assembly.
Last Saturday at Rappahannock High Jerry Wood of Warrenton was nominated by the Democrats to represent the 31st House of Delegates district in the General Assembly. Robert Darby of Woodville is expected to get the Republican nomination tonight in Warrenton.
The 31st District includes all of Rappahannock, most of Fauquier, and 47 percent of Warren.
Mr. Wood, a pharmacist and the owner of the Fauquier Pharmacy, is basing his campaign on his many years of service in the Democratic Party and in professional and civic organizations. He opposes tax increases and favors finding more money for education.
Mr. Darby, a retired businessman, also opposes tax increases and blames the Democratic control of the statehouse and General Assembly for the state’s fiscal woes. He blames the state bureaucracy for problems in education.
