Butterscotch oaties (Margaret Dodson) 16-oz. pkg. butterscotch morsels 3/4 c. butter 2 T. boiling water 1 tsp. baking soda 2 c. rolled oats 1 c. flour, sifted 3/4 c. sugar Dash salt Preheat oven to 350 degrees. Combine morsels and butter. Melt in top of double boiler. Remove from heat. Mix boiling water with baking soda and add to butterscotch mixture. Gradually blend in remaining ingredients. Drop by slightly rounded teaspoonsful. Bake at 350 degrees about 10 minutes. Remove from sheet while still warm to avoid breaking. Yield: 5-6 dozen. These freeze well. Brown sugar brownies (Betty Jenkins) 1 c. flour <■ 1 tsp. baking powder 1/4 tsp. salt 2 eggs 1/3 c. oleo, melted and cooled 1-1/4 c. brown sugar 1 tsp. vanilla 1/2 c. nuts Sift flour. Measure and sift again with salt and baking powder. Set aside. Beat eggs until light and fluffy. Add brown sugar and vanilla. Beat. Add butter, mixing well. Add dry ingredients and nuts. Bake in greased 9x9x2-inch pan at 350 degrees for 40 minutes. Cool and cut.
