During their second year as area representatives the Helmers hosted Kentaro from Japan. Last year they thought they would again take a year off from hosting. However, they had placed Dave from the Netherlands with a family in Culpeper and the year wasn’t going well for him, so he came to live with the Helmers.
This summer Mr. Helmer was asked to fly to Finland with exchange students returning after their year in America. He eagerly accepted and Mrs. Helmer went along. They visited Juha, Jens, Gabrielle, Raphael, and Dave and their families, and got home a few days before returning to the airport to welcome Torsten from Germany for the current year. He was no stranger to them; they had visited him and his family during their trip also.
