In accepting the nomination Mr. Wood said he has the “ability and accessability” to represent the people of the district. He said he did not believe the district was created for him but “for the people of Fauquier County, Rappahannock County, and Warren County.”
“Alb of you know that as a businessman, I’m a voice of moderation in government,” he continued. “I’m a fiscal conservative. I believe in the death penalty. I believe in home rule for land use decisions. I’m pro choice. I favor the transfer of development rights . . . Mostly though, I believe in education, because children are our most important resource, and I \yill do everything in my power, short of increasing taxes, to bring more money to our education system.”
