Activities at the 8th annual reunion of the Beahm family held Sunday, Sept. 1 at the Rappahannock Park began at 9 a.m. and continued full tilt until the last stragglers departed at 4:30 p.m. After the soaring high temperatures of the previous week, the pleasant coolness of the day, made the weather ideal for our get together.
Other than one bee sting and the fact that Ike Beahm’s head connected with an errant baseball from the children’s game, we had a fun filled day alive with vibrant conversation, with first time attendees meeting their heretofore unknown relatives, reminences over old photographs and snapping new photos for future remembrances.
The program was emceed again by James Galloway who spoke of the three Beahm/Beam/Boehm chapels he knows of in Virginia and Pennsylvania, highlighting the Boehm chapel in Lancaster County, Pa. where this Beahm line has its roots. The oldest attendee was recognized as being Neva Grant of Washington, D.C. for the third straight year, she being a young 92 years of age. Our youngest attendee was Blake Hauser of Richmond, he being a mere 4 1/2 months and is a fourth generation decendant of George W. and Nancy Bolen Beahm. For our teenage recognition, we saluted Willie Beahm Russell in his junior year at Mt. Vernon High School in Lorton who advised us that he is pointing towards a college football scholarship. Corrine Vaughn Grassia from Tacoma, Wash, traveled the greatest distance to attend our reunLIIRAY
