2 tsp. baking soda 1 tsp. cinnamon 3/4 c. margarine 1 c. sugar 1 egg or 2 egg whites 1/4 c. molasses Mix and sift first four ingredients. Cream margarine and sugar. Beat in eggs. Add dry ingredients. Stir in part of the flour. Add molasses and the rest of the flour. Chill dough. Make into balls. Roll in sugar, grease cookie sheet. Bake at 350 degrees 12-15 minutes till tops are cracked. Cherry delight cookies (Linnie Cummings) 1 cup margarine 1/2 cup sugar 1/2 cup karo syrup 1 tsp. vanilla 2 eggs, separated 2-1/2 cups sifted all-purpose flour 2 cups finely chopped nuts Candied cherries Mix margarine and sugar. Stir in karo syrup and vanilla. Add 2 egg yolks and flour. Chill dough. Roll into 1-inch balls. Dip into slightly beaten egg whites. Roll in finely chopped nuts. Place on greased baking sheet. Press 1/2 candied cherry into center of each. Bake at 325 degrees for 20 minutes. Yield: 4 dozen. Note: Drained maraschino cherries may be substituted if you don’t have candied cherries.
