4-H sugar cookies (Toni Updike) 3 cups flour 1 teaspoon soda 2 teaspoons cream of tartar 1 cup butter, softened 2 eggs •1 cup sugar . 1 teaspoon vanilla Colored sugar or sprinkles Sift flour, soda, and tartar. Cut in butter with two knives or pastry blender until mixture is like peas. Beat eggs, sugar, and vanilla; add to flour mixture. Refrigerate 15 minutes or until firm. Roll out thinly on floured board and cut with four-leaf clover-shaped cookie cutters. Decorate with green colored sugar or sprinkles. Bake at 400 degrees for 4 to 5 minutes. Yield: 6 dozen.
