A series of fights at a Washington Fire Hall concert Saturday night may lead to a ban on the popular fire hall concerts, according to Washington Volunteer Fire Co. Chief Roger Roach.
Mr. Roach said there was a fight early in the evening, and about half those involved left when asked. The other half stayed around and caused several other fights, he said.
Mr. Roach said he was “irate” that deputies did not arrest anyone when called to the scene. ‘This hurts our name, people are talking about it. We have to stop putting on what had been a money maker, and people who enjoy the dances can’t come to them any more.”
Mr. Roach said there is one more dance planned, and after that the policy will probably be changed to prohibit the dances, at least “for a long, long time.”
He said a group of young people who had been loitering at the Post Office “got kicked out of town so they just moseyed on down to the fire hall.” He said the band that night, Venus Jones, had no connection with the troublemakers.
