The third location to come before the Planning Commission for a new post office for Amissville met with the planners approval.
At last Wednesday’s meeting the planners voted to; recommend that the Board of Supervisors rezone 2.24 acres owned by Frances Semones from Mobile Home Park to Village Commercial. The land is on the south side of U.S. 211 about 200 yards east of the current post office.
The property has not been used as a mobile home park, but it adjoins the mobile home park in eastern Amissville. ;
At earlier meetings the planners had recom-; mended denial of a request by Walter Maben to rezone> about three acres on Route 635 on the north side ot U.S. 211 from rural residential to general commercial! for a post office and also recommended denial of a re-; quest for a special use permit for a post office on land owned by Tom Moore on Route 639 east of Amissville on the south side of U.S. 211. In both votes the plan-, ners said they felt the locations were too far removed! from the village center of Amissville.
Even if the supervisors agree with the rezoning, it does not necessarily mean that the post office will be located. on Mrs. Semones’ land. Mrs. Semones is inter-.' ested in selling her land. For the post office to be; located there, the buyer must arrange to build the post; office and lease it to the U.S. Postal Service for air amount the Postal Service is willing to pay.
