The first-ever Rappahannock Educators’ Conference, held at the high school last Saturday, was a success.
Teachers from the public schools, both Wakefield schools, Spring Mountain Waldorf School and home schoolers attended. They heard Marilyn Beck from Lord Fairfax Community College speak about education for the 21st Century, participated in several separate workshops and then shared what they had learned at the workshops with the whole group.
Organizer Laurie Marshall said 46 teachers and parents participated, with 17 giving presentations. “It was wonderful,” she said. “It met all my expectations. Everyone had really good ideas. I thought sharing them would have ah infectious effect, and it did.”
She said that most people leaving the conference wanted it to be longer next year. She reported that the evaluations turned in at the end of the conference indicated that
