So her fellow members of the Rappahannock Library’s trustee board got together and arranged a special luncheon to her honor at Flint Hill’s Comer Post on Monday to present Mrs. Jamieson a pewter Jefferson Cup in recognition of her years of service. Mary Jamieson is Rappahannock trustee, of the decade as well as the county’s nominee in 1981 for the statewide award, according to the letter of nomination sent by library board member Grace Sims.
The number of unemployment persons in Rappahannock climbed from 179 in August to 195 in September, pushing the county’s unemployment rate from 7.0 percent to 7.7 percent, the highest in the Rappahannock-Rapidan Planning District. According to statistics released by the Virginia Employment Commission’s Culpeper office, the September jobless rate here was higher than both the state (5.6 percent) and the national (7.3 percent) rates.
The Parents’ Association of Wakefield Country Day School in Huntly is sponsoring its third annual Holly Ball, a semi-formal dance followed by a midnight breakfast. This year’s dance will be on December 5th at 8:30 at the school. Proceeds from the dance will benefit the Wakefield athletic program. Reservations may be made by calling 364-1710 in Hume.
