drainfield8 if the owner of the property that would hold the primary and (or) secondary drainfield would donate an easement “in perpetuity” for the drainfield. On this vote members Stewart Willis, Arthur Neufeld and Louise Van Dort voted in favor, with Susan Parrish and Mitzi Young opposed.
Mrs. Young said she was concerned that secondary drainfields be required because the primary drainfield is frequently created for a three-bedroom house, and later additions increase the number of bedrooms causing the septic system to fail. The planners agreed that a lot owner could apply to the Board of Zoning Appeals for an exception to this requirement, but the BZA would then probably restrict the number of bedrooms to be included in the house.
