The deer kill in Rappahannock
so far is very light. To date only fourteen deer have been checked in at Game Stations, though a report from Johnson Esso Station was not available at press time. Jenkins Garage, Amissville had two animals checked, one by James Powers and the other by E.W. Powers. Both were spikes. Mills Store, Huntly, Payne’s Garage, Washington and Burke’s Store had not checked any. Rector’s Store in Flint Hill reported twelve killed.
Mrs. Roberta K. Spalding, Rappahannock County Commissioner of Revenue attended the 42nd annual meeting of the Commissioners of the Revenue Association of Virginia in Richmond on Wednesday, Thursday and Friday. There were 131 Commissioners present and 13 were women. Friday morning, Mrs. Spalding attended a breakfast in the Washington Room of the John Marshall Hotel honoring the Lady Commissioners of the Revenue and the Lady Deputy Commissioners, the lady members of the staffs of the offices throughout the Commonwealth of, Virginia and the wives of Commissioners of the Revenue. Mrs. Spalding made a speech introducing the guest speaker, Mrs. Eleanor P. Shepphard, vice-Mayor, City of Richmond.
