New RAAC office hours, phone
The RAAC office on Gay Street in Washington, Va. announces it will reopen one day a week, from 9 a.m.-4 p.m. on Wednesdays. Some days office hours will only be kept for half a day.
Also, the old RAAC Hotline number has been discontinued. Callers can reach the recording with information about RAAC programs at 675-3193.
Home decoration contest
The Town of Washington celebrates the Christmas season with a home decorating contest. Town residences are invited to spruce up their exteriors in the Christmas spirit in competition for prizes, donated by town merchants.
Natural materials must be used. The winner, picked by a distinguished jury, will be announced in the Town Hall at 4:30 p.m. Sunday, Dec. 8.
The Colonial Christmas Committee is making fresh white pine wreaths, roping, and poinsettias available at wholesale prices.
Plan early, orders must be placed by Monday, Nov. 25, to qualify for pick up on Tuesday, Dec. 3.
Retailers, the sponsors of the contest, are sadly excluded from the prize contest. There will be a winner, among the retailers, who is to be awarded a big poinsettia for excellence.
A $100 first prize and a $50 runner-up prize will be awarded at 4:30 p.m. on Sunday, Dec. 8 in the new Town Hall. First Washington should be a sight to behold for this year's sixth annual Colonial Christmas Celebration.
