Virginia Wayland

Virginia Gore Wayland, 83, of Front Royal, died Thursday, Nov. 21 in the Heritage Hall Health Care Center in Front Royal.

The funeral was conducted Sunday, Nov. 24 at the Maddox Funeral Home in Front Royal by Dr. Mark Jordon. Burial was in Prospect Hill Cemetery.

Mrs. Wayland was bom Dec. 13, 1907, in Front Royal, the daughter of the late Robert and Minnie Stickley Gore. She was a retired Warren" County Public School teacher and a member of the First Baptist Church in Front Royal. She was the wife of the late James Marshall Wayland.

Surviving are a daughter, Charlotte Anne Clarke of Isle of Palms, S.C.; a son, Russell Lee Wayland of Cumberland, Md.; four grandchildren and a great-grandson.

Pallbearers were Lindy Atkins, Garvin Fishel, Jack English, Walter Duncan, George Duncan and Herbert Menefee.

Thomas Settle

Mr. Thomas E. Settle, 84, of Culpeper, died Saturday, Nov. 23 at Heritage Hall Nursing Home in Leesburg.

He was bom in Rappahannock, the son of the late Georgie Anna Fincham and William Jackson Settle.

Mr. Settle is survived by one sister, Mrs. Susan Anna Jenkins of Lignum and a number of nieces and nephews.

Funeral services were held Tuesday, Nov.26 at Found & Sons Funeral Home Chapel with the Rev. John Farrar officiating. Interment was in Fairview Cemetery.
