does not want to turn the funds over to the county treasurer, because she is required by law to use only safe investments in treasury notes and insured certificates of deposit. Such investments, he said, would not keep pace with inflation.
Mr. McCarthy noted that the supervisors and accountants were content to let the Library Board handle the investments but wished to preserve an accounting record for public funds.
Mr. McCarthy was also appointed, along with James P. and Mary Jamieson, to a committee to arrange for plaques to be placed in the library to honor contributors.
Mr. Jamieson arranged to make the final payment to the general contractor, even though the last payment from federal funds to pay for library construction has not yet been received.
