The eight-week General Assembly session can be a frenzy of law making and there’s no need for more bills at this point, said Del. Wood. Although he’d like to sit on committees, such as health, or House finance, the influential bodies rarely have openings, Del. Wood said.
“The most important thing to me is constituent service,” said Del. Wood. “If you forget about them, they’ll forget about you.”
Although freshmen delegates won’t be sworn in until the second Wednesday of January, Del. Wood says his work began with Gov. L. Douglas Wilder’s unpopular decision to temporarily close off state woods to hunters and campers because of fears of accidental fires.
“My phone lit up like you won’t believe,” said the Warrenton pharmacist.
