Debbie Ferdetta, a parent with a daughter in kindergarten and a son in third grade, suggested that in dividing the kindergarten classes into five sections, the school system set up one section for students who know their letters and are ready to learn to read. « Dr. Gangel and Mrs. Massie said they would try to consider parents wishes in rearranging the classes.
At the called meeting the board also approved changes in four bus routes that serve the southern part of the county. These changes will switch some students from more crowded to less crowded buses and will make some of the longest routes somewhat shorter.
The board officially approved hiring Sharon Stickley to teach one period of art at the high school and one at the elementary school. They approved a field trip for the earth science classes.
