Stone awarded scholarship

Christopher Stone, a graduate of Rappahannock County High School, was recently awarded a $500 Food Lion scholarship. Christopher, the son of Edward and Cheryl Stone, ranked second in his class and was a member of Who’s Who in American High Schools. He was also a member of the FBLA, Pop Quiz Team, the National Honor Society, co-editor of the school newspaper and treasurer of his senior class. Christopher is attending David Lipscomb University.

Contracts awarded

CULPEPER — Highway construction contracts for improvements to Route 669 in Louisa County and Route 729 in Rappahannock County totaling more than $1 million were awarded by the Commonwealth Transportation Board at its meeting in Richmond on Sept. 17.

Branch Highways Inc. of Roanoke was awarded a $770,610 contract to reconstruct Route 669 starting from about a mile and a half north of the town of Louisa town limits for a distance of more than a mile.

Near Flint Hill in Rappahannock County, Rappawan Inc. of Front Royal will construct a box culvert across Hickman Run on Route 729 just east of Route 522 and relocate roadway approaches. The culvert will be constructed downstream from the present onelane bridge. The contractor has 120 days in which to complete the $260,216 contract.

Chrysler dealership reopens

CULPEPER — The Reid Chrysler-Plymouth Dodge-Jeep Eagle dealership, located on U.S. 29 south of Culpeper, is under new management. Now owned by Chysler of Culpeper Inc., the dealership, said'Dave Wadworth, the company’s president, is ready to begin providing service and taking orders for autombiles while it is waiting for its first shipments of 1993 models. While the new dealership is expecting inventory delivery to continue through the next 10 days, its service department is open and ready to provide warranty and other automotive services. Mr. Wadsworth said that the dealership will retain Jim Reid as general manager and continue to trade under his name due to the reputation Reid built during his 10 years in Culpeper’s automotive industry.

Litigation ends

HUNTLY — The litigation initiated by Wakefield School Inc. at Marshall against Wakefield Country Day School Inc. at Huntly, Pamela W. Lynn and Clydetta Lynn was ended by a findal order dismissing the case with prejudice entered by Rappahannock Circuit Court Judge Thomas D. Horne. The terms of the settlement are confidential.
