I have just received my fourth piece of junk mail this year from Congressman George Allen. I have been told that a mailing like this costs the taxpayers about $50,000. It contains not one original idea, being 100 percent “conservative" Republican boiler plate. I put quotes around the word “conservative” because this is the name the Republicans give themselves whose presidents have raised our national debt $3 trillion in 12 years. '
The normal purpose of congressional mailouts like this one is to convince us that our congressman is a great statesman, working every minute for our best interests, so that we will keep him with his front feet in the public trough. George Allen is not running for Congress again, thanks to the redistricting skill of the Virginia Assembly, but is running for governor. Therefore, you
