We are into the third week of school and some interesting things are happening at RCES! Mrs. Striplin’s third grade class is learning about insects. Students have shared two preying mantes, an ant and a grasshopper so far.

The fourth grade students are excited about entering an essay contest sponsored by the Virginia Thanksgiving Festival, Inc. The essay topic is “What I Think Thanksgiving Meant to the Virginia Colonists.” It commemorates the very first Thanksgiving celebrated in Berkley, Va. First place is a $200 savings bond.
