Bikers, on their way up, in the Shenandoah National Park, are • generally looking downright and painfully miserable. Their bikes are loaded with “stuff” and their faces contort with agony as they pump and huff their way straight up the mountainsides. Let us hope the trip down makes it all worthwhile.
The haze in the park on a hot, summer day lies close on your skin like a wrap. The views, so obstructed by ugly, prevasive pollution, appear to have been put together by a movie director to depict what happened when no one could save the Park.
Steak and cheese is the number sandwich pick at the Country Cafe, said one of the waitresses. Hamburgers and cheeseburgers come in second.
