It's time

the animals

To the Editor:

The ’90’s seems to be a time of irresponsibility. You can see it in marriage, sex, children, jobs, money, and pets. I want to address to you the importance of responsible pet ownership. I’m going to tell you about three true stories regarding irresponsible pet ownership.

The first true story is very upsetting. There were two dogs found in a backyard dog pen. Both dogs had short chains tied to them, and old metal rakes were in the pen. The pen was too small for two dogs, and so was the doghouse. It appeared that the dogs had not had food or water for a long time. When these animals were rescued they were so malnourished, one dog lost most of the hair on his body. It was also apparent that they had eaten their own feces. I believe these dogs had to be euthanatized because of their poor condition when found.
