on Manor Farm. Dr. Rifaat and Mr. K.P. Grigsby, herdsman of Manor Farm, have installed seven watering troughs to enable them to use a rotations! grazing system.
Mr. Grigsby has also installed thousands of feet of fence and cross fences to further improve the grazing system. Both fencing and the watering troughs have minimized livestock access to the streams on Manor Farm. Forage improvement is also an important part of the farming operation, overseeding of clover and orchard grass is incorporated to overcome the disadvantages of fescue.
Dr. Rifaat and Mr. Grigsby have also fenced out a wetland for wildlife and the pond for recreational purposes. These innovative efforts have unproved water quality on Manor Farm, as well as down stream properties.
Mr. Grigsby accepted the award in the absence of Dr. Rifaat. Mr. Grigsby has been working with cattle since the age of 15. Dr. Rifaat said that he'-maintains an excellent herd and that Manor Farm is very fortunate and appreciative of Mr. Grigsby’s dedicated work.
