He can perhaps take some comfort in that rich folks, for some reason, make their share of pretty goofy, costly mistakes. Like, they may get discounts on cars (I’ve never been rich, but somehow I suspect there’s more to it than that), but the chumps always buy Mercedes and Jeeps, the former being a car worth about half what it costs (even with a hefty discount), and the latter being as shoddy a piece of junk as ever rolled off the Chrysler assembly line. Oh, and their servants are always stealing the silver, (a problem we peasants never have to deal with). I know a doctor who must constantly guard against being overcharged. Salesmen see he is a doctor and pounce on him like a cat on a mouse. Far from getting discounts, he gets taken to the cleaners.
On the subject of guns and the Flint Hill Fire and Rescue Squad raffle, I find it hypocritical that Mr. Day is exercising his First Amendment right to free speech to suggest that the Rescue Squad and their raffle customers relinquish their Second Amendment rights. (Bad guns! Bad, bad, bad!!) I, for one, want all the rights I can squeeze out of the Constitution.
“Hot dang, Otis, git them jaws of life!” Think about it - who would watch “Rescue 911” on TV if it was 30 minutes of good ol’ boys talking about safety and first aid?
Other than that, it was a damn fine column. Keep up the good work.
