CCWHY workshop set
The Community Coalition Working for Healthy Youth (CCWHY) will hold a workshop at 7:30 p.m. on Tuesday, Sept. 29 at the Washington fire hall. The topic for the evening will be “Alcohol Use in Rappahannock County” presented by Deputy Jeff Brown of the Sheriffs Department.
Please plan to attend and join this support group focused on providing positive student activities and community awareness of alcohol and other drug use in the county. Information and questions may be directed to Judy Tole at 937-5850.
Summer reading assembly
On Thursday, Sept. 24 Rappahannock Elementary School will hold its first Summer Reading Program Award assembly. Proud parents and classmates will be present at an assembly as the ten top readers receive awards ranging from a $50 United States Savings Bond to a $5 certificate good for purchases at the RCES Book Fair.
The proud winners are: Rachel Sharp, Allyson Dodson, Adrian N. Stamer, Chelsea Stamer, Beth Conners, Daniel Slack, Jeremy S. Brown, Michael Fairbrother, Jeremy Slack and Sonya Anderson. Emily Taylor, Osha Berry and David Yowell will receive certificates of participation. RCES is proud of all its “Summer Readers."
Booster club to meet
The Rappahannock Athletic Booster Club will meet at 7:30 p.m. on Friday, Sept. 25 at Rappahannock High School. Please note date change from Monday, Sept. 28. For more information call the high school, 987-8575 or Carl Payne, 987-8148.
Flexercise classes
A six-week series of flexercise classes will begin at 5:45 p.m. Thursday, Oct. 1 at the Rappahannock Elementary School. Classes will be held Mondays and Thursdays. Fee is $25. Call Rose Ann Sharp, 675-3887, evenings for more information.
