Rappahannock N«w» Staff Writer In Circuit Court on November 19, Judge W. Shore Robertson set February 9 and 10 for the jury trial of Jake Thomas Taylor, 34, of Castleton, for the sex-related crimes he was indicted for on November 8. He is charged with sexual battery, attempted rape, attempted sodomy, and breaking and entering with the intent to commit rape.
Mr. Taylor was also indicted on November 8 on the count of manufacturing marijuana, or possessing marijuana, with the intent to manufacture such substance not for his own use. Mr. Taylor’s attorney, George L. Freeman, asked that this charge be dealt with separately from the sex-related crimes. Judge Robertson agreed to continue this case , over to February 9 for further disposition, separate from the other trial.
Robert Adam Love, 20, of Sperryville, pleaded guilty to trespassing , and grand larceny. He had been in1 dieted by the grand jury on Novem| ber 8 for entering the home of Joe M. ; Whitfield of Sperryville and remov' ing a 12 gauge double barrel shotgun, a stainless steel pistol, a power rifle scope, a stag handle letter opener, a bayonette with metal sheath, and one bag of approximately 70 arrowheads. Mr. Love will remain at liberty on bond until March 14 at 10 a.m., at which time a pre-sentence report will be presented to the court.
Donna Sue Jackson, 27, of Warrenton, asked that her bond be reduced at a bond hearing with Judge Robertson on November 19. Her attorney, John C. Morgan, asked the court if she could be released on personal recognizance. Ms. Jackson has four cases of forgery pending in Rappahannock County.
Commonwealth’s Attorney Peter Luke argued that Ms. Jackson had spent time in two separate drug treatment programs for a crack cocaine addiction and had not completed either one. Also, he said, “She violated the conditions of her bond.”
Ms. Jackson’s attorney asked that Ms. Jackson be released to be with her children, who are presently living with Ms. Jackson’s mother in Warrenton, for the upcoming holidays. Ruth Ann Taylor, the defendant’s mother, testified that Donna Sue could live with her and she would provide work for her cleaning houses.
