Ernest Martin, Sr.
Ernest Lee (Squirrel) Martin, Sr., of Amissville died Thursday, Nov. 11 at Fauquier Hospital.
Funeral services were held on Tuesday, Nov. 16 at Joynes Funeral Home in Warrenton with the Rev. Forrest Freeman officiating.
Interment was in Bethel Baptist Church Cemetery.
He was bom April 17, 1925, in Warrenton, son of the late Ernest Hayw ood and Annie Brewer Martin.
Mr. Martin attended public school in Fauquier County.
He and his wife, Mildred “Dove” Wilson w’ere married for 48 years.
Mr. Martin was a member of the First Baptist Church in Warrenton.
He was a veteran of the U.S. Army and proudly served his country in World War II.
Survivors include his wife “Dove”; three sons, Ernest Martin Jr. of Manassas, Russell Martin and Richard Martin of Amissville; one step-son John M. Martin of Amissville and four daughters, Helen Francine of Arlington, Rene Martin of Amissville, Shelia Jones of Warrenton and Ruth Brown of New York.
Also surviving are four sisters, Lillian Houke of Warrenton, Elizabeth Holman, Sylvia Reid and Sarah Martin, all of Atlantic City, N.J.; one brother Lewis Martin also of Atlantic City, N.J.; 14 grandchildren; two great-grandchildren; a host of nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.
