bridge. She will be moving the operation to land leased from Phyllis Poore, who runs Ashtree Stables, on Rt. 211, just east of Washington. She will be giving trail rides seven days a w eek, beginning Dec. 1.

Before opening the stables, Mr. Atkins w'orked as a carpenter and did stone work. Many years ago he worked a farm in Rappahannock with draft horses and mules. He has been around horses all of his life and will miss Shadow, Teddy, Dolly, Tucker, Buck, Sugar, Chubby, Country, Chief, Casey and Rocky.

“They usually pair up when they’re out in the field together. It makes me so happy that they’ll all be able to stay together," he said.
