Tree Lighting

There will be a formal tree lighting ceremony to begin the Colonial Christmas weekend celebration in Washington at 7:30 p.m. on Wednesday, Dec. 1 on the Courthouse lawn.

Spaghetti Dinner

A spaghetti dinner to benefit Amissville Volunteer Fire Company is scheduled for 5-8 p.m. on Dec. 4 at the firehouse. The menu consists of spaghetti with meat sauce (some meatless will also be available) tossed salad and variety of dressings, bread, dessert and drink. Adult dinner, all-you-can-eat, is $5 and children 12 and under $2.50. There is no charge for those under five.

Horse Club To Meet

i The Rappahannock 4-H Horse Club will resume their meetings beginning the first week in December. For more information call the Rappahannock Extension Office at 675-3619.

Citrus Sale

, The Rappahannock County Music Boosters are once again selling citrus fruit. There are two sizes of boxes: 4/5 of a bushel (approx. 40 pounds) or 2/5 of a bushel (approx. 20 pounds). There are five different varieties available: juice oranges ($20/$12); navel oranges ($22/$14); tangelos ($20/$12); red grapefruit ($20/$12) and sunburst tangerines ($40/20).

If you would like to order citrus fruit, please contact a Rappahannock County Band or Chorus student of Sally Havstad at 987-9342. All orders must be placed by Dec. 3 and fruit should arrive by Dec. 15. Proceeds will go toward the purchase of music, instruments, and uniforms!

Movie This Weekend

“The Secret Garden” will be the movie at The Theatre at 7 p.m. on Sunday, Nov. 28.

CCLC Raffle

The Child Care and Learning Center will be sponsoring a raffle. Prizes will be a handpieced, handquilted quilt and dinner for two a The Inn. Tickets are $2 and can be purchased at the center or from any CCLC parent. The drawing will take place at the bazaar on Saturday, Dec. 4. You need not be present to win. Proceeds will benefit the CCLC scholarship.

Craft Festival

St. Luke’s Lutheran School is sponsoring a craft festival from 2 to 7 p.m. on Friday, Dec. 3 and from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. on Saturday, Dec. 4 at the school. To rent a table call Peggy Brown at 825-3091 after 6 p.m.

Colonial Dinner Planned

A colonial Christmas dinner will be held at Washington Volunteer Fire Department from 5 to 8 p.m. on Saturday, Dec. 4. The menu consist of cornish hen and wild rice, green beans with almonds, carrots with ginger sauce, rolls, pumpkin pie and tea or coffee. Prices are $10 for adults and $5 for children under 12.
