Rolling meadows, tumbling rivers and forests bright with redbud and dogwood set against a backdrop of the Blue Ridge Mountains make Rappahannock County a lovely place to live.
But this county is blessed by more than natural beauty. A strong sense of community and an old fashioned neighborlinesS are Rappahannock’s greatest treasures. Comfort comes whenever there’s a need, and in times of trouble, hands reach out to help.
For three Rappahannock women, now is one of those times. And as always, friends are ready.
On Saturday, March 2, Rappahannock’s hometown band, the Okays, will play for a benefit dance at the Washington Fire Hall. The proceeds from the dance and a preceding auction will go towards medical bills for Sharon Nicholson, Amy Hathaway and Sandy Liebol.
Mrs. Nicholson is undergoing chemotherapy and will soon face surgery for breast cancer. Miss Hathaway, a 1994 graduate of Rappahannock County High School who is now a freshman at Virginia Tech, is recovering from abdominal surgery to remove a benign ovarian tumor. Mrs. Liebol, mother of a toddler and a seven-year-old, is confined to bed for a month in her F.T. Valley
