Since she is losing only four seniors to graduation, Coach ConkHn expects next year’s team to be similar to this years with more experience. “We will have the same starting lineup I used several times this year,” she said.
JV volleyball coach Heidi Maeyer is really looking forward to the 199697 season as she expects to be able to keep all her players for a second year.
“The first day of practice, I was pretty nervous and really worried, but they’ve come a long, long way,” she, said. “The hard part’s over,” she said. “As a first year coach, I couldn’t have asked for a better bunch of girls. I already miss them.”
She said towards the end of the season they were in a bunch of really close matches that the girls could have won. The second match with Clarke County they lost 16-14, 8-15, and 16-14. “It was a thriller. I wasn’t disappointed. They gave their all, and it just went the wrong way.”
The team won two matches during the season and were close in others. “I’m sure we’ll have a winning season next year,” Coach Maeyer said.

The Wakefield Country Day School girls’ varsity basketball team won a decisive 50 to 21 victory oVer Massanutten Military Academy this week.
Twins Bridget and Kristip Hickson combined for 18 and 10 points to lead the Owls. Liz Hickson added 7 points, and Laura Cowhers added 6.
The team will face Seton in the. first game of th$ Delaney Athletic Conference Tournament Thursday. '
