Regarding tourism, Phil Irwin stated that Rappahannock is second to Williamsburg in the number of bed and breakfast establishments, and that the county is the “dining capital” of the state. “We have more cows than people and more apples than cows,” he said. “The only way to keep Rappahannock beautiful is to deny that everyone can have a piece of it,” he added.
Marc Malik said that there are 15 trailheads that access Shenandoah National Park, and he is concerned about finding a more permanent way to keep the accesses open, as many of them are on private land.
Realtor Mitzie Young commented that people come here because they want space and want to see the scenic beauty and enjoy it.
