He suggested they look to other counties that have similar characteristics to see what they are doing. “If we drive a four lane highway through this county you can kiss it goodbye,” he said.
Miriam Harris, who owns Jordan River Farm in Huntly with her husband Cory Koral, asked people to do what they can to help farmers in this county. “I am amazed how many people will drive by my farm and go to Front Royal and buy vegetables and meat. We cannot hold on to our farm if we cannot make a living on it,” she said.
Land use tax is unfair to those who do not have farms, according to Ruth Kiger. She wants renters to be remembered in this county too.
