I met Mr. Leake for the first time Thursday as I was united with my puppy, Pandie. Pandie is a four month old Chow-Chow. I had received her as a gift last Sunday around noon, from, a co-worker at Thorton Hill.
About 2 p.m. I took the puppy outside. She slipped out of her collar and left me holding'the leash. The puppy was very shy. Several people helped to try and capture the dog two more hours Sunday night. We didn’t see the dog again until Tuesday, and then had no success. Wednesday night mj/dear friend called Mr. Leake. He responded immediately and searched for two hours, sighted the puppy but couldn’t catch her. Thursday he returned to Thornton Hill and coaxed the puppy close to the house and returned,again that evening and was able to catgh her by again coaxing her up to the pprch.
He used no nets or traps or any props what-so-ever, only kind, gentle persuasion. Thank you, Mr. Leake! I was so happy to finally bring handle home to my expectant children! Tfie dog is adored and you, Mr. Leake, are appreciated! Rappahannock Coupty is so fortunate to have you for our animal warden. •

I am opposed to the Sperryvilfe Bypass. , „ !
It is a project, which on itk^owfi merits, might be justifiable. It is mofe convenient. It would it make the oth£r side of Sperryville more accessible Right now, Sperryville is a destination. After the Bypass, It would still tfe an end, but for a lot of high speeijl, noise, rubber, debris, pollution. ;
What is it that makqs Rappahannock special? In part, it is the lack of roads and development. A highway’s purpose is to open np the land, to make it more convenient for developers. The irony is that tn give Rappahannock better roads o% tffis type will not make Rappahannock better, but will take something awajtfrom the essence of Rappahannock. JWflat will be left when this project and others of the same type are completed? The result is likely to be ever larger roads serving ever smaller parcels or land.
