Soft-spoken while at once tough-talking, Michele is typical of amateur riders in that she takes personal interest in the day-to-day care and training.
Husband Randy rode races from the mid-1950s until the early ’80s. Considered one of the best amateur riders of his day, Randy won the Seven Corners Owner-Rider Timber Series eight times, retiring the prestigious* trophy twice. Randy trained his own runners, as he does for Michele's rides today, and typified the description “gentleman jockey.” Some of his better known timber winners were Cinzano, Cousin Wes and Riccachio.
