Opposition to the 3 to 2 vote of the Board of Supervisors to close the dumpster sites at Huntly and Scrabble by June 30, if not sooner, is popping up throughout the county.
Last Thursday the executive committee of the county Democratic Party unanimously adopted a resolution calling on the board to reconsider the decision and schedule a public meeting to explore “all possible solutions and find other means to resolve the problems posed by the dumpsters.”
Petitions opposing the decision are available at most of the county’s general stores. Wayne Blosser, who lives in the Massies Comer area, said he took them to the general stores and has been amazed at the strong support they have received. He said he believes closing the dumpsters will lead to a lot of dumping along the roads.
