A Virginia tradition continues on Saturday, March 2, as steeplechasing returns to Rappahannock.

The gates open at 9 a.m. for the 1996 Rappahannock Hunt Point-toPoirit Races at Thornton Hill Farm south of Sperryville. A full day of family fun is scheduled, beginning with foxhunter’s pairs races at 9:30 a.m. Post time for the card of nine horse races is noon, beginning with pony races for youngsters.

Spectators can watch horses and their jockeys battle to the finish, over timber fences and on the turf, against the dramatic backdrop of the unspoiled mountains.
