voters out of an electorate of 4,000 have come forward, on short notice, to indicate (by their signatures) their opposition. There appear to be very strong feelings against the closing.
I submit that no governing body has a right to act contrary to the wishes of its citizens. Supervisors are elected to carry out the mandate of the voters. It appears that the current action is .contrary to the wishes of the electorate. The board is Supposed to ease some of the burdens of life. I don’t believe that folks in Scrabble or in Chester Gap will find that having to go all the way to Amissville to dispose of trash, and then only during certain hours, will really look on this as a benefit.
The county has just constructed, at great taxpayer expense, a permanent truck scale at the Amissville landfill. This was to service trucks which had picked up trash from the dumpsters. It is now proposed to eliminate the dumpsters and the trucks collecting from them so there will he no use for the scales. What is happening here?

This letter is to express my gratitude and admiration for all the support and kindness shown to the National Guard during the recent snow storms. The reception by the citizens of Rappahannock County was nothing less than spectacular. Every person we met went our of their wayao make sure we had all the comforts of home. 1 was personally offered enough free coffee to start my own coffee shop.
