In 1996, a group of homeschoolers and former families involved in Spring Mountain (Waldorf inspired) School formed a homeschooling cooperative called Hearthstone.
In collaboration with the Chateauville Foundation, founded by Lorin and Dietlinde Maazel, the Learning Center is opening its doors to interested families this September on Castleton Farms in Castleton.
Hearthstone’s mission is to nurture each child’s interests by a holistic approach to the emotional, intellectual, physical and spiritual development of the child. It follows the rigorous, hands-on, nature based curriculum of Waldorf schools with an openness to educational intelligence from any source.
