get amendments calling for the appropriation of planning money for a Lord Fairfax Community College campus in Fauquier County to their respective finance committees. The project was funded at $200,000.

October, 1994 — The Fauquier County Board of Supervisors, the Fauquier County Chamber of Commerce, various business and industrial entities and prominent citizens in Fauquier County pledged financial support for the college.

April, 1995 — The project design is initiated by Sverdrup Facilities Inc. of Alexandria.

June, 1995 — Capital outlay budget request for 1996-98, including construction costs of the new facility, is prepared.

April, 1996 — Funds for the project are appropriated by the Virginia General Assembly.

September, 1996 — Working drawings are completed by Sverdrup Facilities Inc.

October, 1997 — Bids for construction work are submitted. A contract will be signed by the end of the month.

November, 1997 — Construction will begin on the site of the new facility.

September, 1998 — Phase I of the construction plan is completed. The new campus is opened.

December, 1998 — Phase II construction is completed.
