Mr. Smith was born Jan. 4, 1908 in Warren County, the son of the late Arthur Garfield and Eliza A. Williams Smith.
He was a member of the First Assembly of God Church and Elder of the Church, and Founder of the Royal Rangers of the First Assembly of God Church, member of the National Chapter of the AARP and Front Royal Camp of the Gideon International.
Mr. Smith was a veteran in World War II and retired Staff Sergeant after 23 years of service with the U.S. Army.
Surviving are his wife, Josie Ellen Smith of Front Royal; two sons, William G. Smith of Las Cruces, New Mexico and Carroll D. Smith of Berkeley Springs, W. Va.; three grandchildren and two great grandchildren.
Active pallbearers were Russell Henry, John Kenney, Sr., Gene Mills, Danny Neff, Ralph Murphy and Michael Sharp.

Myrtle Jean Jenkins, 71, of Spotsylvania died Sunday, Aug. 10 at her residence.
Mrs. Jenkins was born Sept. 30, 1925 in Richmond. She was a homemaker.
Mrs. Jenkins was the widow of Louis B. Jenkins.
Survivors include a daughter, Stephanie J. Harrington of Spotsylvania; two sons, Jeffrey C. Jenkins of Fairfax and Scott J. Jenkins of Shamong, N.J - a sister, Grace Dubas of Falls Church; two brothers Carl Snead of Dickson City, Pa. and Charles Snead of Mechanicsville, Md.; one grandchild and two great grandchildren.
Private interment will be held at Amissville Baptist Church Cemetery.
Mullins and Thompson Funeral Service, Fredericksburg Chapel was in charge of the arrangements.
