Main Street spring festival with lots of arts and crafts, food, dancing and greetings for all. That evening there was a party in an establishment that held a very festive event that spilled out onto the sidewalk after the running of the Preakness, and a local business set up a Mexican party with tent, band, and Mexican food to celebrate years of success in town. At the same time Fauquier High School held its senior prom under the stars in old town and all the kids were elegandy dressed, dancing, having fun and taking carriage rides around town. What a nice day and evening for fun and family in Fauquier.
Just recendy enjoying the fireworks at Great Meadows, a facility that Fauquier is so fortunate to have, or spending a Friday evening watching twilight Polo matches, or every Saturday evening at an open - air concert on the court house lawn, and so many other exciting events. And lets not forget the simple litde day - to - day niceties. While walking up Main Street to get my mail last week just before lunch how could I resist? The sign at Jimmies Market said “tuna on rye, knish, and a root beer ice cream float”. I had to add their tasty marinated artichokes to my fare that day.
I, like so many other people who live here, have traveled most of the world and we still choose to live where our heart is and will always be. To those newcomers - a warm welcome; to those contemplating Fauquier as their new home - you could do no better; and to those who’ve been here a while - thank you for keeping Fauquier the way it was meant to be.
