I’m responding to the barking
dog controversy. I think we’re trying to turn Rappahannock into a county of unnecessary control issues.
If we try to control dogs from doing what they do naturally, then what next?
Do we stop the birds from singing too loud, or the cows from lowing for several days after their babies have been taken to market, or punish a neighbor’s rooster who’s confused with night and day?
I’m very grateful to live in an area where dogs, when barking in the distance, let me know if there is danger or if someone is coming by their language.
This is the country, so let’s remember that.
