Until 1996, students at the Fauquier Campus could join the PTK chapter at Middletown, but the distance to the main campus made it hard for many Fauquier and Rappahannock students to join and participate, even though they were qualified. All that changed when the Fauquier Chapter was chartered.
After serving as secretary of the local chapter in 1996-97, she was elected president for the coming year.
