My experience at Lord Fairfax was unique... the atmosphere and the level of interest in the students shown by the professors was unlike anything I’d seen before. Tom Kirk College Board member As his responsibilities at the bank continued to grow, it became necessary to curtail, and, later, stop his teaching duties. However, in 1991, he was asked to serve on the Lord Fairfax Community College Foundation Board, which serves as the fund raising arm of the college. And in 1992, he was selected as the LFCC Outstanding Alumnus of the Year for his ongoing efforts. Two years ago, on the recommendation of LFCC president Marilyn Beck, he was appointed by the Board of Supervisors to represent Fauquier See KIRK, Page 6
